Glanville-Koshul Homes cares about our environment and wants to share with everyone some information that can help all of us find small ways to be efficient with our energy use. What does Green really mean? Green addresses the following areas in an effective and efficient way.

- Indoor Air Quality - Green cleans up our living spaces by encouraging homeowners to consider products that are non-toxic and by building homes that are sensitive to the quality of our air.

- Energy Efficiency - Green challenges us to use energy wisely by using appliances and a Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning system that is efficient in how it uses this energy. As examples, Energy Star rated appliances minimize energy use and Compact Flourescent Lighting (CFLs) use up to 80% less energy when these bulbs are on.

- Sustainability - Many products in the construction process are short-term. These are items that need to replaced frequently over the lifetime of a home. Green considers products that can last a long time without the constant need to replace and upgrade. This is less taxing on the environment by having less of a need to discard products and less of a need to use more of the product in order to last as long as the home.

- Recycling - Green cares about the opportunity to re-use products. In the construction of a home, many potentially re-useable items are throw out. With an effort to find uses for these products, we can save on otherwise wasted materials.

By addressing these issues as a team, there can be a tremendous positive impact on our community and our environment, including long-term cost savings for everyone.

The Green Zone

Glanville-Koshul Homes cares about our environment and wants to share with everyone some information that can help all of us find small ways to be efficient with our energy use. What does "Green Building" really mean? There is no standard definition, but a few areas have been identified that address our environment in an effective and efficient way:

- Indoor Air Quality - Green cleans up our living spaces by encouraging homeowners to consider products that are non-toxic and by building homes that are sensitive to the quality and circulation of our air.

- Energy Efficiency - Green challenges us to use energy wisely by using appliances and a Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning system that is efficient in how it uses this energy. As an example, Compact Fluorescent Lighting (CFLs) uses up to 80% less energy, given the same usage as standard light bulbs.

- Sustainability - Green considers products that can last a long time without the constant need to replace or upgrade them. Many products in today's construction process are short-term. Using sustainable products is less taxing on the environment by emphasizing quality in durability and by requiring less of a quantity of these products over lifetime of the home.

- Recycling - Green cares about the opportunity to re-use products. In the construction of a home, many potentially re-useable items are discarded. With an effort to find uses for these products, we can save on otherwise wasted materials.

By addressing these issues collectively, there can be a positive impact on our community and on our environment, including long-term cost savings for everyone.
